Martha Lee Ellis Grant

Mrs. Marthalee Ellis Grant was born on April 30, 1931, the youngest child of Rev. Lawrence and Celia Washington Ellis. The morning of Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:25 am, Marthalee peacefully answered the call of her Heavenly Father, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Fred Grant, Sr.; siblings Florence Major, Rena Singleton, Isabella Davis, and Lawrence Ellis, Jr.; sons-in-law, Charles Horry and Herman Richardson; and her eldest grandson, George Lucas Wilson, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Celestine Virgina Wilson (George, Sr.), Fred Grant, Jr., Hattie Mae Horry, Rebecca Grant-Richardson, Rev. Isaac Grant (Earline Doris), Cathy Mewborn (Ervin) of North Carolina, Gwendolyn Brown (Robert), and Malcolm Grant (Pleshette). She is also survived by her special niece, Betty Robinson; special daughter-in-law, Estelle M. Grant; twenty surviving grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive visitors at 1684 Latroy Ave., Mt. Pleasant, until 9 p.m.
