Mother Sarah A.D. Thomas Obituary (1945

She was educated in the public schools of Charleston, S.C. In 1963 She graduated from Bonds Wilson High School. She began her career with the Medical University of South Carolina as a dietary aide. She was medically retired after 20 years. As a caterer she received many awards for outstanding job performances. At an early age she was affiliated with Evening of Prayer Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop J.W. Wilson. She later became a member of Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.L. Wright. On September 22, 1991, she became a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. Brian D. Moore. Under his leaership she matured and grew spritually. In 1997 her walk became stronger as she sold out for Kingdom work. as a consecrated Mother, she led by example attending and drawing and others to christ at The Life Center Cathedral. Mother Sara had a love that extended to all children whether it was a family member's child, children in the church, or children of the community. In the community. She worked the summer Lunch Program and the Foster Grandparents Program. She was also active in the senior citizen program. Wherever you found a child you would find Mother Sara. Mother Sara was preceded in death by her Father and mother; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip and Annie Mae Thomas; two brothers Isiah Thomas and Eugene Thomas; one sister Claudia Scott. She leaves to cherish her precious memories one son, Shaval Thomas; four daughters Dorcas Smalls-Errington (Ernest), Paris Dunkley, Shannon Brown and Tyeisha Smith all of Charleston, SC; three brothers Elder Phillip Thomas (Cathy) of Jersey City, NJ, James and Walter Thomas of Charleston, SC; eight sisters Dorethea Alston, Ida Mae Thomas, Barbara Ann Palmer, Ivey Denise Thomas, Miriam Wilson, Nancy Fordham all of Charleston, SC, Thomasina Barber of Columbia, SC and Yvette Thomas of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Avery Gamble, D'Andria Alston, Da'Von Alston, Jessica Smalls and Ernest Errington, Jr.; one uncle Harry Brown of Charleston, SC; two aunts Louise Brown and Geraldine Brown of Charleston, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
