Seaward "Bobby" Middleton, Jr., 81, of Summerville, South Carolina died at his home under the care of his loving wife of fifty-three years, Marguerite Smalls Middleton; children: Tiffani, Rashard, Andre and Larry; AGAPE Hospice, and many family members after a prolonged illness on August 17, 2025. He was the fourth child born to the late Deacon Seaward Middleton, Sr., and the late Deaconess Rebecca M. Middleton of St. Stephen, South Carolina. He was active member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, where he gave his life to Jesus at an early age. After graduating from Russellville High School in 1962, he attended and graduated from Claflin University in 1967. Seaward served in the Vietnam War as a US Army combat medic. After an honorable discharge, he briefly worked as a high school teacher at his alma mater, Russellville High School. In 1969, he started his professional career as a federal employee at Charleston Naval Shipyard, eventually working his way up to become a nuclear engineer. After forty-one years, he retired from the Savannah River Site in 2010 as an environmental engineer. Seaward was a devoted member of New Israel Reformed Episcopal Church, where he served in many positions, including Junior Warden for many years until his sickness. In his spare time, Seaward enjoyed bowling, working with his latest gadgets/tools, and, traveling with his wife.
