Inspired by their willingness to give of themselves during one of life's most difficult times, in the summer of 1999 Israel, Ben and Marc embarked on a journey to establish a first-class funeral home. Its distinction would be a higher level of service. Great emphasis was placed on fostering long-term community relations and cultivating a work environment where people would be respectful of each other and empowered to achieve their highest potential.
The Palmetto Mortuary was incorporated in the state of South Carolina on July 12, 2005 and the dream was nearing reality. Their story is one of an unwavering conviction to succeed against all odds.

This endeavor for success demanded of them at every turn, their deepest devotion and from the very beginning, their resolve was tested. Early on they realized that success was not an entitlement but it had to be earned.

The task ahead was to be grueling and the struggle great. After facing many obstacles and suffering disappointing attempts to overcome them, their hope for attainment was sometimes clouded with doubt but they pressed on in spite of the difficulties. As a result of the challenges, they adopted the Latin phrase "Palma Sub Pondere Crescit" which translates, "The Difficulties Only Make Us Stronger" as one of their mottos and "Hallmark of Excellence" being the other.
One of the most essential elements in fulfilling their dream was locality. Following an extensive and arduous search, an ideal site was finally discovered on the Charleston Peninsular at 1122 Morrison Drive. It was exactly what they needed to accomplish their goal. Prior to its conversion into what is now one of Charleston's premier funeral establishments, the fifty-year-old structure had been occupied by several other businesses.

Israel, Benjamin, and Marc accepted the challenge that others only contemplated, and in the face of tremendous adversity, they achieved results unimagined. Because of perseverance, they surpassed their own expectations, and are now poised to exceed the expectations of every family they serve. It is the hope of these three visionaries that their efforts are far-reaching and long-lasting, and that their passionate pursuit of excellence will lead to a higher standard of professionalism throughout the industry wherein they serve.
